L & L LINEDANCECONNECTION is so proud to be working with Sheila Byrd of Studio Nine Yoga in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. We wanted to ensure you knew more about Sheila and Studio Nine.
Sheila began her journey practicing yoga with Sacred Movements, contemplative prayer and yoga. She soon received her RYT 200 after attending Yog Nisarga in Thailand. She holds over 250 hours as a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, the internationally recognized authority on yoga. Her yoga teacher training comes with emphasis on the powerful flow of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Sequence. Still a student of the sequence herself, Sheila finds this particular style of asana (posture) both humbling and energizing.
With a background in holistic health and attunement to bio-individuality, her goal as a yoga teacher is to introduce how yoga can be both beneficial and self-healing for each individual lifestyle.
Recently, Sheila has expanded her practice towards Yoga for Therapeutic Rehabilitation and Trauma Conscious Yoga. Her study of Yoga for Therapeutic Rehabilitation has equipped her with the structure to modify poses that accommodate individual needs and limitations. Her training in Trauma Conscious Yoga has taught her that every experience on the yoga mat will be different and as a teacher she is more aware of the different levels of trauma and takes a mindful approach when interacting with students hands-on.
Sheila was born in Hawaii, raised in Savannah, Georgia and is proud to call Kentucky home. In her free time she enjoys practicing yoga (of course), listening to music and cutting the grass on hot summer days.
Thank you Sheila for opening up your studio for our Dance Family.. Go check out Studio Nine and meet Ms. Sheila..
